Why Karen Roper chose Southwest Harbor Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home- running water, heat, electricity. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite.Īs a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel.

Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has worked in the restaurant industry for the past 15+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools.
